Pfeiffer def. Methodist, 12-0
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Kali Morton tossed a one-hit shutout in game one of a USA South road doubleheader to lead Pfeiffer University to a 12-0 five-inning win overthe Methodist Monarchs.
Morton (14-0) went the distance for Pfeiffer (30-1, 10-1), giving up one hit, walking one and striking out four.
Offensively, the Falcons were paced by junior Kenzi Lyall, who went 3-for-5 on the day with three RBI. Emma Chopko furnished a standout day at the plate as well, going 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and two RBI. Alyssa Broaddus also contributed for Pfeiffer, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding three RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons took the lead for good in the second, scoring for the first time in the inning. Lyall's run-scoring single highlighted a two-run inning for Pfeiffer.
The Falcons then tacked on runs in the third and fourth innings, with their biggest output coming in the third when they scored six times. The big hit in that inning was a two-run single off the bat of Lyall.

Lyall (12-0) went the distance for Pfeiffer (31-1, 11-1), giving up just three hits, walking one and striking out five Monarch batters.
Offensively, the Falcons were paced by freshman Ky Perdue, who went 1-for-2 on the day with an RBI. Alyssa Broaddus put together yet another standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with an RBI. Emma Bullin also contributed for Pfeiffer, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double.

The Falcons struck for one run in the first on an RBI single from Broaddus that scored Lyall from second base.
The Falcons then tacked on three runs in the seventh inning to provide the 4-0 final margin..
