Pfeiffer Men's Tennis Blanks Southern Virginia, 9-0
Buena Vista, Va. (April 15, 2024)– The Pfeiffer University men's tennis took a convincing 9-0 win over Southern Virginia University on Monday afternoon at the SVU Tennis Complex in Buena Vista, Va.

THE BASICS
The Falcons took both contested doubles matches, with
Dylan Masters and
Andres Valdez-Arze starting the day with an 8-1 win.Â
Mathius Dessureau and
Benedikt Pfeiffer secured the second doubles point by winning their No. 1 match 8-7 by taking the tiebreaker by a 7-5 score.
SVU forfeited the match at No. 3.
In singles play, Masters had no trouble, winning 6-0, 6-1, putting Pfeiffer ahead 4-0. Freshman
Jayden Wellman then clinched the team win for the Falcons by winning his match at No. 2 by a 6-3, 6-3 score.
Valdez-Arze would take the No. 4 match,
Mateo Sonaglia won handily at No. 5 and
Benedikt Pfeiffer was able to keep the Falcons perfect by winning his No. 1 singles contest 6-4, 6-4.
SVU forfeited the match at No. 6 to provide the 9-0 final.
The Next Match
The Falcons will close out the regular season on Saturday, April 20 with a road match at William Peace University at 2:00 p.m.
