Inclement Weather Cancels Soccer Home Opening Doubleheader
Misenheimer, N.C. (Aug. 30, 2024) – A line of heavy thunderstorms caused the cancellation of Pfeiffer's home opening soccer doubleheader on Friday, Aug. 30 at Lefko-Mills Field.
The Pfeiffer men's team was set to take on ODAC foe Guilford and were pulled from the field with 31:59 on the first half clock after a lightning strike in the vicinity.
The teams were set to resume play, but another lightning strike as part of a line of storms moving through the area delayed the match further.
With consultation with the Guilford coaching staff, it was agreed that the match could not be resumed based on the weather conditions.
Pfeiffer also decided to cancel the women's soccer match with Averett, which was to start at 7:00 p.m.
There are no plans to make up the matches.
The Falcon men's team will return to play on Tuesday, Sept. 3 when they host Averett at 7:00 p.m.
The Pfeiffer women's team will also play on Tuesday, Sept. 3, as they travel to Warren Wilson for a 5:00 p.m. match with the Owls.
