Misenheimer, N.C. (Sept. 25, 2024)--The Pfeiffer University volleyball team fell to the rival Greensboro Pride in four sets (21-25, 24-26, 25-22, 17-25) on Wednesday night at Merner Gym.
The loss dropped Pfeiffer's record to 3-8 overall and 0-3 in USA South play.
The Falcons were led by a double-double from Abby Lewis, who registered 10 kills and 10 digs on the match. Jada Thomas also added 13 kills to help the Falcon offense. On the defensive end, Gabi Gama chipped in for with 20 digs to go with three blocks from junior Madison Tate.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Falcons found themselves in an early hole, losing the first set 25-21. Greensboro grabbed the advantage for good at 11-10 in a set that was knotted up five times before the Pride took control.
SET 2 | Pfeiffer then lost the second set 26-24 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. The Falcons fell in a tight second set, losing in a stanza that was tied six times and had six lead changes.
SET 3 | Pfeiffer fought back to pull within two sets to one, winning their first set of the match in the third stanza. The Falcons took control of the set early when the score was 6-5 and never trailed to win 25-22. Pfeiffer led by eight points at 19-11 before closing out the stanza, collecting 18 kills in the process.
SET 4 | Pfeiffer couldn't build off the set-three victory and lost in set four 25-17 to drop the match. The Falcons trailed by as many as eight points as Greensboro grabbed the advantage for good at 3-2 and Pfeiffer wasn't able to recover in a set that was tied up just once before the Pride took over.

Pfeiffer will continue play at home when they host N.C. Wesleyan in a USA South match on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Noon. Following the match with the Bishops, the Falcons will play Averett in a nonconference match at 4:00 p.m.
