Pfeiffer Volleyball Splits Matches In Greensboro
GREENSBORO, N.C. — October 18, 2025 — Pfeiffer University volleyball split its Saturday doubleheader at Hanes Gymnasium, falling to Greensboro College in straight sets before bouncing back with a dominant four-set non-conference win over Randolph College.
In the opener, Pfeiffer (10-12, 5-6 USA South) dropped a 3-0 decision to USA South Conference leader Greensboro (18-2, 12-0 USA South), with set scores of 23-25, 16-25, and 14-25. Despite a competitive first set featuring 10 ties and four lead changes, Pfeiffer struggled offensively, hitting just .048 for the match.
Abby Lewis led the Falcons with 10 kills and a .381 hitting percentage, while
Madison Tate added five kills and three blocks. Setter
Karmen Rion dished out 20 assists and contributed six digs.
Greensboro's Payton Shiflet paced the Pride with 17 kills and a .245 hitting percentage, while Jaylyn Templeton recorded 35 assists and nine digs. Greensboro hit .226 as a team and out-dug Pfeiffer 58-50.
Pfeiffer rebounded in the afternoon match with a 3-1 victory over Randolph (7-13, 1-6 ODAC), winning by scores of 25-22, 25-27, 25-23, and 25-12. The Falcons improved to 11-12 overall with the non-conference win.
Tate delivered a standout performance, tallying 12 kills on a .476 hitting clip and adding a match-high nine blocks.
Gabi Gama was a force on both ends, notching 13 kills, five service aces, and 22 digs. Lewis chipped in 13 kills and 11 digs, while Rion orchestrated the offense with 27 assists.
Pfeiffer hit .211 as a team and held Randolph to a .110 attack percentage. The Falcons also dominated at the net, registering 11 total blocks to Randolph's three.
The Falcons will return to play with a USA South home match against Meredith College on Wednesday night, Oct. 22 at 6:00 p.m.
