Pfeiffer Men's Soccer Wins USA South Regular Season Title With 1-0 Rain-Soaked Home Win Over Brevard
MISENHEIMER, N.C. (Oct. 29, 2025) — Freshman
Barrett Owens scored the decisive goal in the 52nd minute to lift Pfeiffer University to a 1-0 victory over Brevard College on Wednesday night, securing the USA South Regular Season Championship on a cold, rain-soaked Lefko-Mills Field.
Owens' fourth goal of the season came off an assist from junior
Jaiden Wright and capped a dominant second-half performance. Pfeiffer (13-0-3, 5-0-2 USA South) completed an undefeated regular season, outshooting Brevard 12-6 and earning six corner kicks to the Tornados' one.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Seth Limbert made one save to record the shutout, his sixth of the season. Pfeiffer's defense held Brevard (5-6-4, 2-4-1) without a shot on goal in the second half and limited scoring chances throughout the match.
The Falcons controlled possession early, generating three corner kicks in a five-minute span midway through the first half. Despite several close chances, including a shot off the woodwork by
Wesley Hooker, Pfeiffer was unable to break through until Owens found the net seven minutes into the second half.
Brevard's Manuel Tovar Hagstrom finished with five saves, including key stops on shots by
Alex Michael and
Adrian Carmona. The Tornados were issued two yellow cards in the final 10 minutes as Pfeiffer closed out the match.
With the win, Pfeiffer clinched the top seed in the upcoming USA South Tournament and extended its unbeaten streak to 16 matches. The Falcons will host a semifinal match on Wednesday, Nov. 5 against the winner of the match between fourth-seeded Greensboro College and fifth-seeded Methodist University.
