Pfeiffer Men's Tennis Opens Spring Season With Narrow 4-3 Setback to Virginia Wesleyan
Misenheimer, N.C. (Feb. 17, 2025)– Visiting Virginia Wesleyan University outlasted the Pfeiffer men's tennis team, winning 4-3 to open the spring season on a sunny but chilly afternoon at the Knapp Tennis Center.

THE BASICS
The visiting Marlins opened up a 1-0 lead after taking two of the three doubles matches. Pfeiffer took the No. 1 match by a 6-3 score from the team of
Mathius Dessureau and
Benedikt Pfeiffer. VWU won the No. 2 and No. 3 matches to take the point.
In singles play, it came down to the No. 5 match. After Pfeiffer scored wins at No. 3 (Dessureau), No. 4 (
Aissultan Mukhambetov), and No. 6 (
Bogdan Stan) to tie the match at 3-3, Carlos R.Zarraga defeated
Andres Valdez-Arze in a 3-6, 7-6 (7-0), 6-3 marathon to clinch the 4-3 win.
The Next Match
The Falcons will return to the Knapp Tennis Center in Misenheimer on Saturday, Feb. 22 for a home match against Roanoke College. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
