Pfeiffer Men's Tennis Wins at Guilford, 5-2

Greensboro, N.C. (April 8, 2025)– Visiting Pfeiffer University won five singles matches to take the 5-2 non-conference win over Guilford on Tuesday afternoon at the McMichael Centennial Class Courts in Greensboro, N.C.

THE BASICS
The home standing Quakers took the 1-0 lead after claiming doubles wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 matches.

The Pfeiffer duo of Jayden Wellman and Aissultan Mukhambetov won their No. 2 match by a 6-2 score for the lone doubles win.

In singles play, Pfeiffer won five of the six matches, with Mukhambetov clinching the team win with a three-set (2-6, 6-4, 6-2) triumph at No. 4.  His doubles teammate Jayden Wellman also won in a three-set affair, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 in the No. 3 match

Bogdan Stan and Justin Giesbrecht each won their matches by identical 7-5, 6-1 scores, with Stan taking the No. 5 match and Giesbrecht winning at No. 6.

In the longest match of the day, that took over two hours,  Pfeiffer's Mathius Dessureau took a three-set win at No. 2 singles by a 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 1-0 (10-6) final

The win improves Pfeiffer to 3-1 overall in matches with teams from the ODAC.

The Next Match
Pfeiffer will step back into USA South play on Friday, April 11 when they travel to Staunton, Va. to tangle with league foe Mary Baldwin at 2:00 p.m.
