Box Score Falcon Men's Soccer Wins 2-1 in Season Opener at Guilford
GREENSBORO, N.C. (Aug. 29, 2025) — Pfeiffer sophomore
Wesley Hooker scored the game-winning goal in the 59th minute to lift Pfeiffer to a 2–1 victory over Guilford in the Falcons' season opener Friday afternoon at Armfield Athletic Center on the Guilford College campus.
Pfeiffer (1-0) struck early when defender
Alex Michael headed in a corner kick from
Caleb Yopp in the fifth minute. Guilford (0–1–0) responded in the second half with a penalty kick goal from Chris Hercules in the 72nd minute, but Hooker's rebound finish from the penalty stripe just 13 minutes earlier proved decisive.
Goalkeeper
Seth Limbert made three saves for Pfeiffer, including two in the first half, while Guilford's Ildis Vital-Peraza stopped five shots, all in the second half.
Hooker led all players with four shots on goal, while
Drew Garro added two for Pfeiffer. Hercules and Isaac Garbia each had two shots for Guilford.
The Falcons outshot the Quakers 9–10 but held a 7–4 edge in shots on goal. Pfeiffer also earned five corner kicks to Guilford's one.
Pfeiffer will return to play on Wednesday, Sept. 3 with a road trip to former USA South and current ODAC member Averett University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
