Volleyball Falls to Randolph and Roanoke

Box Score Pfeiffer Volleyball Drops Matches to Randolph and Roanoke

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Pfeiffer University came up short in a pair of tightly contested matches Friday at the Frances and Don Giles Gymnasium, falling in straight sets to Randolph College and Roanoke College.

In the opener against Randolph, Pfeiffer (2-3) battled through three competitive sets but ultimately fell 26-24, 26-24, 25-22. Senior Haedyn McGrath led the Falcons with nine kills and three blocks, while Madison Tate added five kills and a service ace. Setter Karmen Rion dished out 17 assists and contributed nine digs.

Despite out-digging Randolph 64-57 and matching their kill total (33), Pfeiffer was hampered by 11 service errors and 21 attack errors. Gabi Gama chipped in nine kills and 12 digs, while Gabby Edwards anchored the back row with 10 digs.

In the nightcap against Roanoke, Pfeiffer again showed resilience but couldn't overcome the Maroons, dropping the match 25-20, 25-23, 25-22. Tate turned in a standout performance with nine kills on just 12 attempts, hitting .583
and adding three blocks. McGrath followed with seven kills and two blocks, while Faith Miller contributed four kills and two blocks.

Rion continued her steady play with 13 assists and two service aces, and Edwards led the team with 11 digs. Pfeiffer held Roanoke to a .172 hitting percentage but struggled offensively, hitting just .118 as a team.

The Falcons continue their swing through Virginia with a pair of matches on Saturday, Sept. 13, taking on host Bridgewater at 10:00 a.m. and then battling Lynchburg at Noon.
