Pfeiffer Rolls Past Virginia State, Remains Unbeaten
Petersburg, Va. (Sept. 24, 2025) —
Alex Michael recorded a first-half hat trick, and Pfeiffer University cruised to a 6-2 victory over Division II Virginia State on Wednesday evening at Rogers Stadium onm the road in Petersburg, Va.
Michael, playing as a defender, scored three times in the opening 32 minutes, including two penalty kicks and a third goal assisted by
Caleb Yopp, helping the Falcons (7-0-0) maintain their perfect record. Pfeiffer jumped out to a 4-2 lead by halftime and added two more goals in the second half to seal the win. The hat trick for Michael marks the second time he has achieved the feat in as many games.
Benji Landaverde opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, and
Wesley Hooker and
Drew Garro added second-half goals for Pfeiffer. Hooker's goal came in the 50th minute off an assist from
Erick Campos-Marquez, while Garro capped the scoring in the 74th minute.
Virginia State (0-4) briefly kept pace early, with Diddier Rochez converting two penalty kicks in the first seven minutes to tie the game at 2-2. But Pfeiffer's relentless attack proved too much, outshooting the Trojans 16-6 and placing 11 shots on goal.
Goalkeeper
Seth Limbert made two saves for Pfeiffer, while Virginia State's Elijah Fernandez stopped five shots in the loss.
Pfeiffer will jump into USA South play on the road on Saturday, Sept. 27 when they travel to Rocky Mount, N.C. to tangle with N.C. Wesleyan. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Scalf Field
