MISENHEIMER, N.C. — Pfeiffer University improved to 6-1 in USA South play with a gritty 67-57 home win over Mary Baldwin at Merner Gym on Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons (8-5, 6-1 USA South) built a 32-19 halftime lead behind a balanced attack and never trailed. Pfeiffer's defense forced 24 MBU turnovers and converted them into 19 points, while also dominating in transition with 21 fast-break points.

Kendyll Moore andfreshman
Ge'Kayla Goins led the way offensively, each scoring 11 points. The 11 points were a career-high for Goins.
Moore knocked down two 3-pointers and added a key layup during a second-quarter surge, while Goins provided a spark off the bench with two triples and steady free-throw shooting.
Nyree Bell and
Lettie Michael chipped in 10 points apiece, with Michael adding a pair of blocks and a 3-pointer in the third quarter.
Pfeiffer's bench contributed 26 points, and the Falcons controlled the glass with a 45-40 rebounding edge, including 15 offensive boards.
Mary Baldwin (2-10, 1-5) rallied late, outscoring Pfeiffer 23-11 in the fourth quarter, but the deficit proved too much. Lanie Bethel paced the Fighting Squirrels with a game-high 20 points, hitting five 3-pointers, while Malia Bullock added 14 points and seven rebounds.
Pfeiffer shot 35.1% from the field and went 21-for-32 at the line, while Mary Baldwin finished at 31.4% and 19-for-30 from the stripe.
Pfeiffer will look to continue their hot streak with a 6:00 p.m. home game against rival Greensboro College on Wednesday, Jan. 14.
