MISENHEIMER, N.C. (Oct. 10, 2026) — Pfeiffer celebrated Homecoming in style Saturday, using a pair of goals and a shutout defensive effort to earn a 2-0 USA South victory over Meredith while withstanding torrential rains on Saturday afternoon at Lefko-Mills Field.
The Falcons controlled play throughout the afternoon, outshooting the Avenging Angels 13-4 and limiting Meredith to just three shots on goal.
After several early scoring opportunities, Pfeiffer broke through in the 35th minute when
Cassidy Lake scored her first goal of the season.
Melania Martinez delivered the assist as the Falcons took a 1-0 lead at the 34:08 mark and carried the advantage into halftime.
Pfeiffer doubled its lead early in the second half when
Lily Bido converted a penalty kick in the 62nd minute. The goal was Bido's second of the season and gave the Falcons valuable breathing room at 2-0.
The Falcons' defense handled the rest. Freshman goalkeeper
Jerusalen Gonzalez recorded three saves, all in the second half, to secure the clean sheet. Meredith's best chances came late, but Gonzalez denied shots from Claire Wagner and Sam Carroll to preserve the shutout.
Martinez helped pace the Pfeiffer attack with a team-high three shots, while Bido,
Quinn Branca,
Rheanne Fleming and
Khamani Spencer each added two attempts.
With the win, Pfeiffer improved to 4-4-3 overall and 3-2-1 in USA South play, while Meredith dropped to 4-6-2 overall and 2-3 in conference action.
