Carolina U Downs Pfeiffer Women, 1-0

BERMUDA RUN, N.C. (Oct. 21, 2026) — Pfeiffer University matched Carolina University for much of the night, but a late second-half goal proved to be the difference in a 1-0 nonconference women's soccer loss on Tuesday evening at Truist Sports Park.

The Falcons (5-5-4) received a strong defensive effort and seven saves from their goalkeepers but could not break through offensively, finishing with eight shots and three shots on goal.

Pfeiffer goalkeeper Jerusalen Gonzalez kept the match scoreless through the opening half, recording five saves in 46:15 of action. Emma Little added two saves after entering in the second half. Together, the Falcons limited Carolina to one goal despite facing 14 shots and eight shots on target.

The Falcons generated several scoring opportunities throughout the contest. Kenzie Stewart led the team with two shots and one shot on goal, while Quinn Branca, Melania Martinez, Rheanne Fleming, Abbie Gudino and Jentry Denson each contributed attempts. Waleska Gonzalez made three saves to earn the shutout for Carolina.

After a scoreless first half, the teams remained deadlocked until the 82nd minute. Carolina broke through at the 81:06 mark when Destini Wilson scored off an assist from McKenna Voncannon, providing the game's lone goal.

Pfeiffer nearly answered immediately, firing a shot just seconds after the restart, but Carolina held on over the final nine minutes to secure the victory.

Carolina U improved to 7-2-3 with the win, while Pfeiffer slipped to 5-5-4.
