Goldstein Scores as Pfeiffer Women Ties 1-1 at Mary Baldwin

STAUNTON, Va. (Oct. 24, 2026) — Sophomore forward Kenzie Goldstein scored the equalizer midway through the second half, and Pfeiffer University battled back for a 1-1 draw against Mary Baldwin University in a USA South women's soccer match Saturday at SMA Worth Field.

The Falcons (5-5-5, 4-2-2 USA South) were outshot 9-5 but relied on a strong defensive effort and six saves from freshman goalkeeper Jerusalen Gonzalez to earn a point on the road.

After a scoreless first half, Mary Baldwin broke through in the 60th minute when Addison Hannigan found the back of the net off an assist from Joelle Hare, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead. The goal was Hannigan's 11th of the season.

Goldstein responded less than five minutes later. Entering as a substitute, she scored her first goal of the season in the 65th minute, leveling the match at 1-1 and providing the Falcons with a crucial road equalizer.

Gonzalez was instrumental in preserving the draw, making four of her six saves in the second half. She denied attempts from Anna Hill, Kendall Carr, Joelle Hare and Najila Castillo-Wright as Mary Baldwin pushed for a late winner.

Pfeiffer generated limited chances but capitalized on one of its two shots on goal. Austyn Grace Wolfe and Goldstein each recorded a shot on target for the Falcons.

Mary Baldwin (7-5-1, 4-3-1 USA South) finished with a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal and earned four corner kicks, but the Falcons' defense held firm down the stretch to secure the conference result.

The draw extended Pfeiffer's unbeaten run to three matches and improved the Falcons to 4-2-2 in league play. It also snapped a four match losing skid to MBU, dating back to 2022.
