BUENA VISTA, Va. (Oct. 3, 2026) – Pfeiffer University held Southern Virginia scoreless through the opening 45 minutes, but the host Knights broke through early in the second half and pulled away for a 3-0 USA South women's soccer victory Saturday at Knight Stadium.
Pfeiffer (3-4-2, 2-2 USA South) matched Southern Virginia through a scoreless first half despite being outshot 5-3. The Falcons generated their best offensive opportunities from
Quinn Branca, who accounted for two shots, including the team's lone shot on goal in the 27th minute.
The match turned quickly after halftime as Halle Willardson scored just 27 seconds into the second half off an assist from McKenna Currey to give Southern Virginia a 1-0 lead. Just over three minutes later, Xoie Warner doubled the advantage with a goal assisted by Ashley Hamblin.

Jerusalen Gonzalez kept the Falcons within reach with several key saves, finishing the afternoon with eight stops against 17 Southern Virginia shots and 11 shots on goal.
The Knights added their final goal in the 65th minute when Riley Mills scored off an assist from Rachel Winterton to extend the lead to 3-0.
Pfeiffer was limited to four total shots and one shot on goal in the match.

Abbie Gudino each added second-half shot attempts for the Falcons.
Southern Virginia (6-5, 4-0 USA South) finished with a 17-4 advantage in shots and a 6-0 edge in corner kicks while posting the shutout. Goalkeeper Chloë Miller made one save for the Knights.
