MISENHEIMER, N.C. (Oct. 6, 2026) — Pfeiffer University freshman goalkeeper
Jerusalen Gonzalez made two saves as the Falcons played visiting Methodist to a scoreless draw in a USA South women's soccer match on Tuesday evening at Lefko-Mills Field.
The Falcons (3-4-3, 2-2-1 USA South) generated several quality chances in the second half but could not break through against Methodist goalkeeper Kiera Ferguson, who finished with four saves and preserved the shutout for the Monarchs (4-4-2, 1-2-2 USA South).
Pfeiffer recorded seven shots and put four on target, matching Methodist's seven-shot total while holding the visitors to three shots on goal.
The Falcons nearly found the breakthrough on multiple occasions.
Quinn Branca forced saves in the 18th and 88th minutes, while
Sabrina McNeill tested Ferguson with a shot on frame in the 59th minute.
Rheanne Fleming added another dangerous opportunity in the 81st minute, but Ferguson answered each challenge.
Branca's shot in the 88th minute forced the Monarch goalkeeper to make a terrific fingertip save to prevent what would've been the likely match-winning goal
Methodist's best first-half opportunities came from Lillian Pressler and Anna Wiggins. Gonzalez stopped a Pressler attempt in the 17th minute and later denied Wiggins, helping the Falcons carry a 0-0 deadlock into halftime.
Pfeiffer earned four corner kicks, including three after halftime, and applied steady pressure down the stretch. The Falcons' defense, anchored by Gonzalez and the back line, limited Methodist to just one shot in the second half.
With the result, Pfeiffer remains unbeaten at home in conference play.
