MISENHEIMER, N.C. (Feb. 14, 2026) — Pfeiffer University opened strong and never trailed, riding a dominant interior effort and a breakout performance from senior forward
Doug Smith to defeat rival Greensboro College 82-64 in USA South play Saturday at Merner Gym.
Smith powered the Falcons (14-8, 10-2 USA South) with 18 points on 9-for-11 shooting, adding 10 rebounds for a double-double. He scored repeatedly at the rim, including three first-half dunks that helped Pfeiffer build a 37-29 halftime lead.
Pfeiffer controlled the glass throughout, finishing with a 48-38 rebounding advantage, including 18 offensive boards that fueled 20 second-chance points. The Falcons also received a major spark from their bench, which contributed 26 points.
Guard
Sean Sucarichi added 16 points, attacking in transition and scoring frequently in the paint, while
Drake Stewart produced 14 points and seven rebounds, giving Pfeiffer consistent energy in both halves.
Justin Gaten chipped in nine points, all from behind the arc, and
Zach Sloan added nine points as well.
Pfeiffer set the tone early with defensive pressure, recording nine steals and converting Greensboro's 13 turnovers into 17 points, helping extend the lead to double digits within eight minutes of the first half. A 10–2 run midway through the second period, punctuated by a Smith dunk and a Sucarichi layup, pushed the Falcons' advantage past 20.
Greensboro (9–14, 5–7 USA South) was led by Will Gray's 17 points, while DJ Jackson added 14, and Quamir Ingram scored 10. The Pride scored 44 points in the paint, but struggled from the perimeter, finishing just 2-for-16 from three.
Pfeiffer closed the afternoon shooting 30-for-77 overall and 15-for-22 at the foul line while holding Greensboro without a lead at any point. The win keeps the Falcons near the top of the USA South standings entering the final stretch of conference play.
Pfeiffer will return to play on Tuesday, Feb. 17 for a 7:00 p.m. matchup with William Peace in the final regular season home game of the season.
