HIGH POINT, N.C. —
Jordan Jones delivered a national statement performance as the Pfeiffer men's track and field team competed at the VertKlasse Meeting hosted by High Point University.
Jones highlighted the meet by winning the 100 meters in 10.13 seconds, breaking his own school record and moving into the No. 1 ranking in the NCAA this season. The junior sprinter also added a runner-up finish in the 200 meters, clocking a school-record 21.12 to cap an outstanding day on the track.
Pfeiffer collected multiple top-10 finishes and school records throughout the meet.
Cameron Ritchie placed third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.53, which now ranks second on the Falcons' outdoor all-time list. Ritchie also sits second all-time in the 110-meter hurdles following his season best of 15.38.
In the 400 meters,
T'Andre Palmer finished sixth overall, running 48.56, a performance that ranks second in program history.
Drake Stewart added a seventh-place finish in the High Jump A section, clearing 2.02 meters (6 feet, 7½ inches).
Several new school standards were set during the meet.
Bricen Burleson broke the Pfeiffer record in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:57.96.
Alec Paraiso established a new mark in the javelin throw, recording a best of 47.65 meters (156-4). The men's 4x100-meter relay team of Michael Chapman,
Owen Deaton,
Jonathan Moran-Sanchez and
Jordan Brooks also etched its name into the record book with a time of 42.00 seconds.
Additional Falcons posted all-time top-10 performances.
Rahnier Lyons moved to second all-time in the hammer throw (44.23 meters / 145-1), while
Fabian Candela-Godinez ranks third in the 800 meters (1:56.84).
Jonathan Moran-Sanchez clocked 21.93 in the 200 meters to sit third, and
Janeil Logan now ranks fourth in the 110 hurdles (15.85) and sixth in the 400 hurdles (58.64).
Distance runners
Triston Rabon (15:41.40) and
Ezequiel Cannas (15:53.68) posted fifth- and eighth-best times, respectively, in the 5,000 meters, while
Qaadir Royal (22.45, 200 meters) and Michael Chapman (11.17, 100 meters) also earned top-10 program marks.
The Falcons will return to competition on April 10-11.
