GREENVILLE, S.C. (Sept. 15, 2026) — Despite controlling much of the play and holding a significant advantage in shots, Pfeiffer dropped a 2-1 nonconference women's soccer decision to Bob Jones on Tuesday evening.
The Falcons (1-2-2) outshot the Bruins 14-4 and placed 11 shots on goal, but Bob Jones goalkeeper Margaret Provenzano turned away 10 shots to help her team rally for the victory.
After a scoreless first half in which Pfeiffer generated nine shots and forced seven saves, the Falcons broke through early in the second half.
Lily Bido converted a penalty kick in the 49th minute, giving
Pfeiffer a 1-0 advantage at the 48:34 mark. The goal was Bido's team-leading score of the season and capped an extended stretch of pressure by the Falcons.
Pfeiffer nearly added to its lead moments later, earning several corner kicks and forcing another save from Provenzano, but the Bruins answered against the run of play. Lily Davis scored in the 56th minute to level the match before Shannon Miller netted the game-winning goal less than four minutes later, putting Bob Jones ahead 2-1 in the 60th minute.
The Falcons continued to push for an equalizer throughout the final half hour.
Quinn Branca led the attack with four shots, all on target, while Bido added three shots and
Macy Allred recorded two.
Jade Watts also tested the Bruins' goalkeeper late in the match, but Provenzano preserved the one-goal lead with several key saves.
In goal, freshman
Jerusalen Gonzalez made two saves for Pfeiffer as the Falcons limited Bob Jones to just four total shots and held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Pfeiffer will return to play on Sunday, Sept. 20 when they open USA South play with a 2:00 p.m. match with William Peace University at the WakeMed Soccer Complex in Cary, N.C.
