MISENHEIMER, N.C. (Sept. 23, 2026) — Pfeiffer erased a two-set deficit and forced a decisive fifth set, but visiting Brevard edged the Falcons 25-23, 25-22, 22-25, 12-25, 15-8 in a USA South Conference women's volleyball match Wednesday night inside Merner Gym.
After dropping the opening two sets by narrow margins, the Falcons responded with their strongest volleyball of the night. Pfeiffer claimed the third set 25-22 and dominated the fourth set 25-12 to even the match and send it to a winner-take-all fifth set.
Anasty Faavesi led the Falcons offensively with 15 kills, while
Gabi Gama added 14 kills and nine digs.
Jada Thomas contributed 13 kills and two total blocks, and
Isabelle Conradie posted 11 kills on a team-best .435 hitting percentage while adding three blocks.
The Falcons totaled 60 kills and 93 digs in the match.
Karmen Rion directed the offense with 25 assists and 19 digs, while
Kelsey Hussey added 20 assists and 10 digs. Defensively, libero
Molly Wright paced the team with 27 digs.
In the pivotal fifth set, the teams were tied 5-5 before Brevard used a 5-1 run to create separation. The Tornados extended the advantage to 14-8 and closed out the match on a Falcons attack error.
Brevard was led by Caroline Moon's 16 kills and Emma Fontana's 10 kills and two service aces. The Tornados finished with seven aces and seven total blocks in the victory.
With the result, Pfeiffer moved to 1-10 overall and 0-4 in USA South play, while Brevard improved to 5-7 overall and 2-0 in conference action.
Pfeiffer will take to the road for their next USA South match, traveling to Mary Baldwin on Saturday, Sept.26 for a 3:00 p.m. match.
