MISENHEIMER, N.C. (Sept. 5, 2026) — Pfeiffer scored eight first-half goals and cruised to an 11-1 victory over Averett on Saturday night at Lefko-Mills Field. The Falcons improved to 2-0 with the dominant nonconference win.
Junior
Wesley Hooker recorded a hat trick and finished with four goals, including a penalty kick, to lead a balanced Pfeiffer attack that outshot Averett 30-5 and placed 18 shots on goal.
The Falcons wasted little time taking control. Hooker opened the scoring just 52 seconds into the match off an assist from
Caleb Yopp, and
Barrett Owens doubled the lead in the 14th minute.
Hooker added goals in the 19th, 20th and 27th minutes as Pfeiffer built a 6-0 advantage before halftime.
The freshman trio of
Cole Patton,
Eros Jimenez and
Jefferson Paguada also found the net in the opening half, scoring their first collegiate goals as the Falcons carried an 8-0 lead into the break.
After intermission,
Tyler Ridley pushed the margin to 9-0 in the 70th minute. Averett avoided the shutout when Christian Evans scored in the 73rd minute, but
Micah Paylor and
Juan Argueta answered with late goals to cap the scoring.
Eleven different Falcon players recorded a point. Ridley, Owens, Argueta and Paguada each contributed a goal and an assist, while
Josh Aguirre-Escobar,
Jaiden Wright, Yopp and
Aiden Dualan added assists.
In goal, Kian Fuertado-Morgan made one save for Pfeiffer. Averett goalkeepers Ryan Barnes and Nicholas Dinoia combined for six saves while facing constant pressure from the Falcons.
The Cougars played much of the match shorthanded after a first-half red card and were issued a second red card in the 81st minute.
Using available records, the win was Pfeiffer's highest-scoring performance since a 16-0 win over Wingate during the 1980 season. Additionally, it is the 11th time in program history scoring in double-digits.
