Pfeiffer University

Makenzie Pennell enters her fifth season as a member of the Pfeiffer softball program in 2021.

2020 (Senior) - Did not play due to injury.

2019 (Junior) -  Started in 43 games while finishing with a team best .489 batting average and a .978 slugging percentage.  She managed 67 RBI, had 18 doubles, four triples and 14 home runs. Earned USA South Player of the Week honors on April. 1.Named to the ECAC All-Tournament Team. Following the season, she was named USA South First Team Deast Division, NCCSIA First Team and was an NFCA NCAA Division III All-Region First Team selection.

2018 (Sophomore) - Started in all 42 games for the Falcons... hit .368 on the season, recording 46 hits, 14 of which were doubles, three triples and seven home runs.  She knocked in 36 RBI and carried a .696 slugging percentage. Defensively, she had 61 put outs and 99 assists, returning a fielding percentage of .982.  For her efforts, she earned NFCA Third Team All-Region honors.

2017 (Freshman) - Named D2CCA Second Team All-Region and First Team All-Conference . . . was selected as the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year . . . set the program record with a .393 batting average . . . also broke the team record for slugging percentage (.653), hits (68), total bases (113)  and runs batted in (57) . . . her 11 home runs ranked second in program history . . . named Conference Carolinas Player of the Week three different times. 

Personal: Daughter of Tammy and Shannon Pennell.  Birthday is August 7. Is majoring in physical education with a minor in history.

Before Pfeiffer: Attended Alexander Central HS . . . was a 2014 NCHSAA 4A Champion and also a National Champion . . . was twice named an All-Conference performer . . . two-time All-District and two-time All-State selection.
