DAHLONEGA, G.A.- The Pfeiffer men's basketball team opened the season firing on all cylinders in a 109-87 rout of North Georgia on Friday night, in the Peach Belt/Conference Carolinas Challenge. The Falcons set single game school records in three point shooting percentage, firing a stellar 58.1% from three point land, and field goal percentage shooting a ridicules 62.1% from the floor. Senior AJ Clark scored a game-high 29 points on 11-of-19 shooting while dishing out a team-high four assists. Andrew Guerrero added a career-high 26 points making 5-of-7 three pointers on the evening.
With Pfeiffer trailing 11-10, Clark put the Falcons back on top hitting one of his six threes on the night, igniting a 13-0 Pfeiffer run. At the nine minute mark, Mike Smith knocked down a three extending the Falcon lead to 36-16. A Guerrero three, as the first half expired, gave the Falcons a 56-37 halftime lead. The Falcons continued their domination in the second half, shooting 68% from the floor in the stanza overwhelming the Nighthawks en route to a 22 point victory.
North Georgia had four player that scored in double figures. Tyler Dominy paced the Nighthawks scoring 17 points. Ebo Smith was 5-for-8 from three point range adding 15 points. Tyre Gathright contributed 13 points and Juan Rivas scored 12 for UGA.
Smith shot 6-for-8 from the floor including knocking down four three pointers and scoring 19 points for Pfeiffer. Sae'Quahn Rogers added 11 points in his first game in a Falcon uniform. De'Vonte Jenkins had a game-high four rejections and added six points on the evening.
Pfeiffer caps off the Peach Belt/Conference Carolinas Challenge tomorrow with a 2:00 p.m. game against Georgia College.
