Falcons and Wildcats Battle to 1-1 Women's Soccer Draw

MISENHEIMER, N.C. (Sept. 9, 2026) – Pfeiffer controlled the run of play and outshot JWU Charlotte by a wide margin, but had to settle for a 1-1 draw in non-conference women's soccer action Wednesday night at Lefko-Mills Field.

The Falcons generated 15 shots and six shots on goal while limiting the visitors to just four total attempts, but JWU Charlotte received a strong performance from goalkeeper Zoe Balmer, who made five second-half saves to preserve the tie.

The visitors struck first when Jess Garman found the back of the net just 31 seconds into the match, giving JWU Charlotte a 1-0 advantage before many fans had settled into their seats.

Quinn Branca answered for Pfeiffer midway through the opening half, converting a penalty kick in the 31st minute to knot the match at 1-1. The penalty kick was earned following a handball by a JWU defender inside their own goal box.

The goal was Branca's first of the season and capped a persistent attacking effort by the Falcons after falling behind early.

Macy Allred led the Falcons' offensive pressure with a team-high four shots, while Branca tallied two attempts and the equalizing goal. Reserve forward Kenzie Goldstein provided an immediate spark in the second half, placing two shots on target during a stretch in which Pfeiffer pushed for the game-winner.

The Falcons dominated possession throughout the final 45 minutes, outshooting the visitors 9-2 after halftime and repeatedly testing Balmer. Kenzie Stewart, Allred and Kylie Scott each forced saves as Pfeiffer searched for a breakthrough goal.

Defensively, Jerusalen Gonzalez and the Falcon back line were sharp after the early setback. Gonzalez finished with one save and did not allow another goal over the final 89 minutes. Pfeiffer limited JWU Charlotte to just two shots on goal and held a 15-4 advantage in total shots.

With the draw, Pfeiffer moved to 1-1-1 on the season, while JWU Charlotte remained unbeaten at 2-0-1.

Pfeiffer will return to play on Friday, Sept. 11 when they host Division II Shaw University at Lefko-Mills Field.
