Lyon's Three Hits Leads Baseball to Fourth Win in Last Five Games During 6-4 Victory at Newberry

NEWBERRY, S.C. - Preston Lyon put together a 3-for-4 night with a RBI and pair of runs scored to lead Pfeiffer University in a 6-4 victory at Newberry College on Wednesday night. The win, their fourth in five games, improves the Falcons to 12-8 overall while the Wolves fall to 8-12.

Pfeiffer started early and often with a Jon Gray RBI-double in the first and Aarin Sharpe run-scoring single in the second. Newberry would sandwich two runs in the first on an Albert Baur groundout and Josh McElwee double to left-center.

The Falcons would added a Jacob Yates RBI-single in the fifth and a Lyon single in the sixth that scored Cole McGraw. The Wolves would add single runs in the sixth and seventh on a pair of sac-flies before Pfeiffer added the two runs needed in the eighth and ninth frames.

Lyon would start a two-out rally with a single in the eighth, move to second, third and eventually score on Newberry wild pitches. In the ninth, Gray would also score on a wild pitch after reaching on an error, swipe second and move to third on a throwing error in his stolen base attempt.

Tyler Summers would pick up the win in relief tossing perfect seventh and eighth innings. Craig Bolton would notch the save getting a game-ending double play in the ninth.

Pfeiffer returns to action on Saturday and Sunday hosting Coker in a Conference Carolinas weekend series at Joe Ferebee Field. Saturday's twinbill starts at noon with all games having live stats available at http://www.gofalconsports.com.
