PEMBROKE, N.C. - Getting ready for their Conference Carolinas weekend finale at St. Andrews on Friday and Saturday, the Pfeiffer University baseball team dropped a 12-1 decision at UNC-Pembroke on Thursday night. The 25th-ranked Braves knocked out 16 hits to improve to 29-15 while the Falcons drop to 22-23.
UNCP was up 11-0 when the Falcons got their lone run across in the top of the seventh. Cole McGraw started with a two-out walk before scooting to third on a Jon Gray single to left. Matt Wade would follow by reaching on an error that would allow McGraw to trot in from third.
Eight of the Braves nine starters recorded a hit on Thursday while the Falcons saw five scatter one hit apiece.
Friday's series-opener at St. Andrews will start at 3:00 p.m. moving the series up a day due to threatening weather over the weekend.
