TIGERVILLE, S.C. - The Pfeiffer men's soccer team (9-3, 5-1 CC) cruised to a 5-0 victory at North Greenville (0-10, 0-6) on Saturday and extended their winning streak to eight in a row. Martim Galvao recorded a hat-trick and Nathan Regis continued his spectacular sophomore season with two goals.
Galvao added two assists in the match and finished the afternoon with an eight-point performance.
Regis entered the week 10th in the nation in goals scored and added two more to his total. The sophomore now has 10 goals on the season and 27 points. Today marked the fourth time on the year that Regis has scored twice in a match.
"This was a good road win for our guys," said Head Coach Bob Reasso. "The guys played very hard for each other, worked very hard for each other and I am quite pleased with their effort."
Regis didn't wait long to put the Falcons on the scoreboard as he scored in the 8th minute. In the 35th minute, Regis added his second and final goal of the match to put Pfeiffer up two. With under three minutes remaining in the first half, Galvao struck for his first of three scores as the Falcons went into the break with a comfortable 3-0 lead.
Galvao completed the hat-trick with two second half scores. The final tally of the afternoon came in the 81st minute and was the freshman's sixth goal of the season.
Nicolas Dulac made two saves in net to improve to 9-3 on the season. Pfeiffer held a 19-8 lead in shots and took the only corner kick of the match. Pfeiffer put 11 shots on goal compared to two for the hosts.
The Falcons notched their fourth shutout in their last five matches with today's result.
Pfeiffer entered this week fifth in the nation in goals scored per game at 2.89. In their two matches this week, the Falcons put seven goals on the board and are now averaging 3.0 goals per game.
The Falcons look to continue their torrid pace this Wednesday as they travel to Barton for a 4 p.m. match.
