MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Pfeiffer men's soccer team (7-3) ran its winning streak to six straight after a 3-1 victory over Chowan (5-4) on Monday afternoon. Pfeiffer's Nathan Regis accounted for two assists as the sophomore has recorded at least one point in eight straight matches.
Three different Falcons scored a goal in the contest as the team held a 23-9 advantage in shots. Pfeiffer also had the upper hand in corner kicks, holding an 8-2 lead over the Hawks.
"It's tough to play a game after such an emotional win on Saturday," said Reasso, referencing Pfeiffer's 1-0 overtime victory against Erskine less than 48 hours prior to today's contest. "It was a sloppy game today but I commend our guys for winning and playing hard but it's really tough to come back and play that quickly after a big game."
Jorge Buzzo scored his first career goal in the fifth minute, giving the Falcons an early 1-0 lead. Roberto Soares sent a cross into the box and Buzzo's shot just got over the hand of Chowan's keeper. The one-score advantage would hold up for 34 minutes before Regis set up Soares for his fourth strike of the season.
The Falcons continued the pressure in the second half but the Hawks made the game interesting down the stretch. With less than 10 minutes remaining, Terell Williamson ended the shutout bid with a shot that snuck just inside the far post. With the Hawks pressing to tie the game, Regis struck again as he received the ball in the box and pulled the keeper out of net. He easily got passed the goalie and fed teammate Jaime Siaj who sent the ball into the open net for his eighth goal of the year.
Siaj and Regis are tied atop the conference leaderboard in goals scored and Regis leads the league in points with 23. Siaj is only two spots behind him with 17 points as the duo continues to ignite the high powered offense.
Nicolas Dulac improved to 7-3 in net for Pfeiffer, making one save in the match. Marco Lujan dropped to 5-4 for the Hawks as he made five saves.
Pfeiffer returns to action on Thursday afternoon as they host Mount Olive in Conference Carolinas action at 4 p.m.
