MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Pfeiffer men's soccer team (8-3, 4-1 CC) scored both its goals in the second half en route to a 2-0 victory over Mount Olive (2-7-2, 0-4) on Thursday afternoon. Martim Galvao and Luke Janes accounted for the Pfeiffer goals as sophomore Nathan Regis' streak of consecutive matches with a point ends at eight.
The match was Pfeiffer's seventh straight victory and the clean sheet was the fifth shutout in the seven game span.
The Falcons, who entered play as the fifth highest scoring team in the nation, were held without a goal for the first half as the team's battled to a scoreless draw through the first 45 minutes.
Pfeiffer broke through in the 55th minute as Jaime Siaj sent a pass to Galvao who found the back of the net for his third strike of the season. Janes' goal in the 70th minute was his first of the season and Dani Siaj was credited with the helper.
"It was a very competitive match against a team whose record does not reflect how good they are," said Head Coach Bob Reasso. "Our guys played well and won another game and shutout a very well coached team."
Pfeiffer's Nicolas Dulac made five saves to improve to 8-3 on the season. Pfeiffer held a 16-13 advantage in shots and 8-5 lead in corners.
The Falcons return to action on Saturday as they travel to North Greenville for a 4 p.m. match.
