TIGERVILLE, S.C. - The No. 3 Pfeiffer men's soccer team (9-0, 4-0 CC) dominated North Greenville (2-7, 0-4) on Saturday morning with a 5-0 result. Nathan Regis scored twice as the Falcons moved within one victory of tying the longest consecutive win streak which was 10 set in 1994.
The game was originally scheduled to take place at N.E. Lefko Field but the weather forced the match to North Greenville's turf field and changed the time to a 9 a.m. start. However, none of these changes affected the Falcons.
"To leave home on homecoming and play at 9 o'clock this morning was difficult but the guys were tremendous," commented Coach Bob Reasso. "It was a great team effort. We are excited to win the game and move on. We are looking forward to the next challenge."
Pfeiffer wasted little time in grabbing control of the match as Jaime Siaj scored with the assist going to Juan Sanchez just 1:02 into the contest. In the 22nd minute, Martim Galvao tacked on Pfeiffer's second goal while Regis' score in the 44th minute sent Pfeiffer into the half up 3-0.
To start the second half, Cristobal Allendes connected on his first career goal at Pfeiffer to extend the lead to 4-0. Regis completed the scoring with his 12th tally of the year in the 73rd minute.
Regis entered play ranked sixth in the nation in goals scored and can vault into the top-5 with his two strikes. He currently ranks second all-time in Pfeiffer history with 41 goals and is just nine shy of setting a new record.
Pfeiffer outshot North Greenville 20-2 and took seven corners compared to one by NGU. Nicolas Dulac made one save to record his third straight shutout.
Pfeiffer looks to tie the record for most consecutive wins on Wednesday afternoon as they travel to Mount Olive to take on the Trojans at 4 p.m. Both teams sit at 4-0 in conference play so first place will be on the line as well.
