MISENHEIMER, N.C. - For the second time this season, the Pfeiffer women's tennis team (3-1) defeated Catawba (4-2) as the Falcons posted a 9-0 victory. In September, Pfeiffer claimed a 6-1 win in Salisbury.

The Falcons started off strong, sweeping through doubles play with relative ease. In top doubles, Olivia Nelms and Hannah Watson defeated Catawba's top pair 8-2. In second doubles, Valeria Mendoza and Taylor Lindsay claimed an 8-3 victory and Mylene Petitpas and Mara Hofstetter recorded an 8-5 win.

Pfeiffer won 12 of 13 sets in singles competition as the Lady Indians proved to be little competition. Nelms defeated Liz Renteria in first singles 6-0 and 6-2, while Lindsay won her second doubles matchup 6-0, 4-6, 10-7. Mendoza, Watson, Petitpas and Hofstetter all posted straight set victories for the Falcons.

Pfeiffer returns to action on Sunday afternoon as they host Lenoir-Rhyne at 1 p.m. at the Knapp Tennis Center.
