 MISENHEIMER, NC- In their home opener, the Pfeiffer baseball team (3-5) dropped a 12-1 decision to Lenoir-Rhyne (7-0). The Bears benefitted from a seven run third inning and pounded out 17 hits as a team.
Tyler Lequire made his second start of the year and was saddled with the loss. Lequire struck out two in two innings of work and gave up four runs.
Lenoir-Rhyne pitcher John Curtis picked up his first win of the season pitching 5.2 innings giving up two hits and one unearned run. The Bears batted around in the third inning and had a stretch with seven consecutive hits.
The Falcons scored first, in the bottom of the first when Izzy Perez hit an RBI single to left field scoring Cole McGraw.
Ivan Vieitez had a huge day for the bears going 2-for-4 and driving in five runs. Three of those runs came on a bases loaded RBI double in the top of the third inning. Colby Dishmond registered three hits in four at bats and drove in one for Lenoir-Rhyne.
Pfeiffer returns home on Saturday for a double header against St. Augustine. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
