MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Pfeiffer women's lacrosse team (1-1, 1-0 CC) won its Conference Carolinas opener with a 15-2 domination of Converse (0-2, 0-1 CC) on Saturday afternoon. Kristi Korn had three goals for the Falcons, who scored the first 10 goals of the contest.
Korn finished the game with four points and seven other Falcons added two points in the one-sided contest. Rachel McCarthy played the first 30 minutes in goal before giving way to Emily James in the second half.
Haley Gourdie set up the first two goals of the game for Pfeiffer as the Falcons jumped out early. Erika Mackenzie put Pfeiffer up 1-0 off a great pass from Gourdie just 2:22 into the game. Moments later, Gourdie found Chalane Morrison who would tally her second goal just over five minutes later to put Pfeiffer up 3-0. Korn scored three straight over a 4:36 span to put Pfeiffer ahead by six. Anna Rulapaugh, Jacqueline Kennedy and MacKenzie Rolland would all tally goals to end the first period as Pfeiffer took a 9-0 lead into the break.
Cheyenne Green put Pfeiffer up double digits 3:09 into the second half before Converse struck for their only two of the game. The Falcons would close the contest scoring the game's final five goals.
For the game, Pfeiffer led Converse 35-5 in shots and held a 24-16 advantage in ground balls. Pfeiffer also led in draw controls 14-5 as Kennedy recorded six.ÂÂ
The Falcons return to action on Saturday as they travel to Emmanuel for a 2 p.m. contest.
