COLUMBIA, SC - The Pfeiffer women's tennis team (2-0) won its spring season opener, easily defeating Benedict (0-3) 9-0 on Thursday afternoon.

Reigning Conference Carolinas Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, Olivia Nelms, teamed with Hannah Watson to secure an 8-5 win in first doubles for the Falcons. Valeria Mendoza and Taylor Lindsay shutout the Lions second doubles duo, 8-0 and Mylene Petitpas and Mara Hofstetter took home an 8-2 victory in third doubles.

Pfeiffer cruised to six singles victories as well, dropping just one game. Lindsay earned a win in top singles, outlasting Karla Flores 3-6, 6-2 and 10-8. Mendoza (6-3, 6-2), Watson (6-0, 6-2), Petitpas (6-2, 6-0), Hofstetter (7-5, 6-0) and Noemi Perez Principal (6-2, 6-1) all earned straight set victories for Pfeiffer.

The Falcons return to action on Saturday as they host North Carolina Central at noon.
