DAHLONEGA, GA - In the rubber game of a three game series, the Pfeiffer baseball team (3-4) dropped a 12-2 decision to North Georgia (2-2) on Sunday afternoon. The Nighthawks pounded out 15 hits and two home runs in the game and took two of the three games from the Falcons.
Starting pitcher Keith Little earned the loss after tossing five no-hit innings in his first start of the season. Little lasted 3.1 innings and allowed five runs to fall to 0-1 on the season.
Jacob Beauchamp earned the win for North Georgia, going four innings in relief and allowing just one hit and one walk. Beauchamp didn't allow a run and struck out four batters.
The Falcons scored first in the top of the second inning as Izzy Perez lined a double to left center to lead off the inning. A base hit advanced Perez to third base and he came in to score as Jordan Eckard grounded into a double play.
North Georgia answered with three runs in the third, two in the fourth and blew the game open with a four-run fifth inning.
Cody McKenzie went 2-for-3 with a walk out of the two hole in the lineup and Perez finished 2-for-3 with a run scored. Zach Scudder had a pinch hit RBI that scored Damon Smith for Pfeiffer's second and final run of the contest.
Perez went 7-for-11 in the three game stand with three runs and an RBI. In yesterday's contest, Perez fell a triple shy of hitting for the cycle as the senior has a team-leading .429 batting average through the first seven games.
Bo Edwards and Joey Cecere each recorded four-hit games for the Nighthawks and each drove in three runs. Steven Tomlinson went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI's and two doubles.
On Wednesday, Pfeiffer will host Lenoir-Rhyne in their home opener at Jack Ingram Field. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
