SAINT LEO, FL- The Pfeiffer women's lacrosse (3-2) team won a double-overtime thriller 12-11 over St. Leo (2-2) on Friday afternoon. An unassisted goal by
Chalane Morrison with 4:25 left in the second overtime was the difference in the game. Morrison totaled five points with three goals and two more assists.ÂÂ
Abbie Ross and Kelsey Burns each had three points to lead the Lions. Ross scored three goals, while Ross scored two goals and added an assist.
After trailing 1-0 the Falcons scored five of the next six goals, which was capped off by a
Kristi Korn unassisted goal with 2:12 left in the first half. St. Leo would score the final goal of the half with 44 seconds left, cutting the score to 5-3 in favor of Pfeiffer.ÂÂ
The Lions started off the second half on fire scoring five of the first six goals to take a 9-6 lead with 6:38 left in the game. The Falcons answered by scoring three goals in the last 2:12.
Whitney Jaffe sparked the run with an unassisted goal. With eight second left in the game, Korn delivered the equalizer.
In the first overtime Burns scored a goal with 52 second remaining, and it looked like the Lions would escape with a victory. However, ÂÂ
Anna Rulapaugh had a different idea scoring an unassisted goal with 18 seconds left to force a second overtime.
Cassidy Wilson picked up the win in goal for the Falcons. Wilson registered 12 saves including eight in the first half.
Rulapaugh scored three goals, both
Jacqueline Kennedy and Korn contributed with two goals in the Pfeiffer victory.
The Falcons return home on Saturday, March 14 for a matchup with Indiana University (PA). Faceoff is scheduled for 11 a.m.
