MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Pfeiffer women's lacrosse team (9-5) dropped suffered a difficult 13-12 loss in double overtime against No. 3 Lindenwood (12-1) in the Falcons regular season home finale on Sunday afternoon. Kristi Korn scored with seven seconds left in the 2nd half to tie the game at 12 and force overtime, but the Lions scored with just 26 seconds left in the double overtime period to steal the victory.
Korn scored three goals on the day and added an assist. Anna Rulapaugh, who assisted on Korn's dramatic last second goal, also finished with three goals and an assist. Rounding out the scoring was three tallies from Chalane Morrison and single goals from Jacqueline Kennedy, Erika Mackenzie and Cheyenne Green.
Korn had a phenomenal all-around effort as the senior finished with four ground balls, three draw controls and caused four turnovers on the day.
The Lions were paced by Melissa Manchella and Amanda Schimpke who each scored three goals. Jordyn Constance, who scored the game-winner, finished with two scores.
Lindenwood held a slim 35-31 advantage in shots and the Falcons held a 24-20 lead in ground balls. The Falcons were 20-for-24 on clears, while the Lions went 13-for-19. Each team went 3-for-9 on free position shots but Lindenwood had the big advantage in draw controls at 20-9.
Cassidy Wilson made a handful of big saves for the Falcons and finished with 11 saves in her 66 minutes of action.
The Falcons close out the regular season on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Limestone for a 1 p.m. contest. The Saints are currently ranked 11th in the nation and are in sole possession of first place in the conference.ÂÂ
