SALISBURY, NC- The Pfeiffer women's lacrosse team (8-4) got back on track on Thursday afternoon with an impressive 21-15 victory over Catawba (7-6).
Kristi Korn recorded three goals and moved into second place in all-time career goals scored at Pfeiffer. ÂÂ
Chalane Morrison had a big game scoring six goals and scooping up three ground balls for the Falcons.
Pfeiffer struck first, when Korn scored just one minute and 11 second into the contest. With the game tied 4-4 the Falcons went on a 3-0 run that was highlighted by two Erika Mackenzie goals giving Pfeiffer a 7-4 advantage. Catawba cut the deficit down to one goal with 3:53 left, but goals by the
Delaney Miller and Mackenzie extended the Falcon lead to 10-7 at halftime.ÂÂ
The Falcons jumped all over Catawba in the second half scoring six unanswered goals to start the period, and pushing the lead to 16-7. During that run Morrison scored two goals and
Gracie Herbert capped it off by scoring back-to-back goals in under a minute.ÂÂ
Mackenzie had a big game off the bench for Pfeiffer scoring four goals. Herbert recorded five points scoring two goals and dishing out three assists.
Delaney Miller had a game-high four assists and found the back of the net once for the Falcons.
Megan Shortt and Alyssa Corace led the way for the Indians scoring four goals apiece.
On Tuesday, April 7 Pfeiffer travels to Banner Elk, for a 4 p.m. contest with Lees McRae.
