Siaj's Goal in 89th Minute Leads No. 25 Falcons Past Coker

Box Score

Jeremy Zalacca - Director of Athletic Communications

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Jaime Siaj's header in the 89th minute was the game-winner as the No. 25 Pfeiffer men's soccer team (4-0) remained unbeaten with a thrilling 4-2 victory over Coker (0-2-1) on Sunday evening. Siaj ended the match with a goal and an assist to give Bob Reasso his 396th career coaching victory.

In a match that was scoreless for the first 70 minutes, the final 20 proved to be the opposite. Santi Moar opened the scoring barrage with an unassisted goal in the 71st minute. Just 1:37 later, Nathan Regis connected for his fourth tally of the season. However, the Cobras would not go away quietly. Just 1:08 after Regis put Pfeiffer up two, Connor Norton-Baker's left foot put Coker on the scoreboard at the 73:10 mark of the match. After a Pfeiffer foul resulted in a penalty kick, Alvaro Urena beat Nicolas Dulac at the 77:00 mark to pull Coker even at two.

As the two teams battled for the upper hand, it was Siaj who put Pfeiffer up for good. Martim Galvao lifted his corner kick into the box that found Juan Sanchez whose shot hit off the post. However, Siaj was in the right place to head home the rebound with just 1:49 left on the clock. 1:23 later, Roberto Soares took a pass from Siaj and split two defenders to seal the victory with his fourth strike of the year.

"It was a hard game against a good opponent," said Reasso following the contest. "The first half was pretty even and we dominated the second half. We got a good goal from Santi and a good goal from Sasa (Regis) and then relaxed and let them back into the game. We showed a lot of courage and resilience and we walked out deserved winners."

The four goal effort by the Falcons was the third time in four games that Pfeiffer scored at least four goals. For the season, the Falcons have scored 15 goals, an average of 3.8 per game.

Pfeiffer held a commanding 18-8 advantage in shots on the night and doubled up Coker on corner kicks, 8-4. Nicolas Dulac made three saves in net to collect his fourth win of the season.

The Falcons return to action on Wednesday as they host Barton at N.E. Lefko Field.
