MISENHEIMER, N.C. - In their historic first ever night game, the No. 4 Pfeiffer men's soccer team (7-0, 3-0 CC) used a hat trick from Nathan Regis to defeat Lees-McRae (3-4, 1-2) by a final score of 4-0 on Saturday night. The win was number 399 in the career of head coach Bob Reasso and kept the Falcons unbeaten on the season.
In a contest that saw rain fall the entire evening, Pfeiffer proved to be too much for Lees-McRae to handle. Regis scored twice in a 55 second span in the first half, with both goals coming via penalty kicks. On the first, Regis was hauled down in the box as he tried to make a move. Moments later, a hand ball in the box resulted in the second PK, which Regis drilled home. The hat trick was completed in the 64th minute as Martim Galvao sent a through ball to Regis who easily found the back of the net for his ninth score of the season. For the final tally of the night, Santi Moar took a perfect feed from Jaime Siaj in the 78th minute to seal the victory.
"I thought we were good from start to finish," said Coach Reasso, who is one win shy of a historic 400th victory. "It was great to be playing under the lights, I think the guys were really excited and we put in a great performance. We moved the ball really well in the first half until we got into the attacking third. I thought we were too sloppy in the attacking third but got better in the second half. They are a very good team and to beat them 4-0 is nice."
The Falcons held a 14-4 advantage in shots and a 3-0 lead in corner kicks. Nicolas Dulac made two saves to record his third shutout of the season.
The Falcons look to get win number 400 for Coach Reasso on Wednesday night as they host Tusculum at 7 p.m. under the lights.
