MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Roberto Soares netted a hat trick as the No. 6 Pfeiffer men's soccer team (7-2, 3-0 CC) dominated Erskine (5-3, 3-1) en route to a 5-0 victory on Saturday afternoon. The game capped off Pfeiffer's homecoming weekend and kept the Falcons unblemished in conference play.
"We played great today," commented Head Coach Bob Reasso. "It was a very professional performance. We moved the ball well and everyone contributed. To bounce back and score that many goals against a tough opponent is a compliment to my team."
The Falcons struck four times in the first half, reversing a recent trend of slow starts. Nathan Regis put the Falcons up for good in the seventh minute as Santi Moar found him in the box and the reigning National Player of the Year did the rest for his eighth tally of the season. Soares would score twice in the first half and Erskine would give up an own goal as the Falcons went into the break with a commanding lead.
It was more of the same in the second half as Soares completed his hat trick in the 59th minute on an unassisted goal.
Tomas Correa made two saves to help the Falcons earn the clean sheet.
Pfeiffer held a 27-7 advantage in shots, including a 14-2 margin in the first half. Pfeiffer took 10 corners on the afternoon, comparted to a pair for the visitors.
The Falcons return to action with a conference matchup at home against Mount Olive on Wednesday evening. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
