Box Score MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The No. 16 Falcons (12-2) ran their shutout streak to six straight with an 8-0 blanking of USC Aiken on Wednesday evening as Mateo Garces Yepes had a career night. After entering the match as a substitution in the 35th minute, the senior netted four goals in the dominating victory.
The game was scoreless for the first 41:16 until Garces Yepes found the back of the net with the assist credited to Adrian Mosquera. The half would end with Pfeiffer holding a commanding 12-3 advantage in shots and 5-1 lead in shots on goal.
The second half would start much like the first half ended with Garces Yepes putting one past the keeper. Jaime Siaj and Martim Galvao sent consecutive headers to Garces Yepes who fired one in the bottom right corner for his second tally of the evening. The hat trick was completed in the 63rd minute as Santi Moar's corner kick found Garces Yepes' head and past the keeper. However, the senior from Colombia wasn't finished as less than two minutes later Moar set him up once again.
From there, Pfeiffer would tack on four more goals to finish with seven second half strikes. Roberto Soares, Jaime Siaj, Chris Brown and Nathan Regis would each score in the final 14 minutes of the match.
"I told the guys following the match that Mateo bailed them out from a bad performance," commented Head Coach Bob Reasso. "We weren't playing well and Mateo showed up with four goals. We woke up in the second half as been our tendency for the season."
Tonight's match was Pfeiffer's final non-conference contest of the regular season. On Saturday evening, the Falcons return to Conference Carolinas action with kickoff slated for 6 p.m.
