MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The No. 14 Pfeiffer men's soccer team (14-2, 9-0 CC) thrashed No. 8 Limestone (12-2, 8-1 CC) by a final score of 7-2 on Senior Night to clinch their second consecutive Conference Carolinas regular season title. The Falcons extended their league winning streak to 22 straight regular season wins and their home winning streak to 28 straight.
"We beat a very good team tonight," commented Head Coach Bob Reasso. "They caught us on a night where we played really well. We were on our game from the opening whistle and it was a tremendous all around team performance."
The Falcons struck in the 18th minute as reigning National Player of the Year Nathan Regis found Santi Moar in the box and Moar netted his 8th goal of the season. The Falcons nearly added a second goal moments later but Jaime Siaj's shot deflected off the post. However, a Limestone own goal in the 23rd minute would give the Falcons a second strike and a 2-0 lead. The lead would swell to 3-0 in the 40th minute as Mateo Garces Yepes corralled a rebound in the box and put it in the open net.
The scoring barrage would continue in the second half when Moar found the back of the net for the second time on the evening off an assist from Jorge Buzzo just 3:28 into the second frame. Less than three minutes later, Jaime Siaj pushed the lead to 5-0 as the senior scored for the 15th time on the year. Limestone would end Pfeiffer's seven-and-a-half match shutout streak in the 52nd minute when Jorge Salvat found Louis Robles to cut the lead to 5-1. However, the Falcons jumped right back with Siaj's second goal of the night. Sebastian Gregerson would score Limestone's final goal in the 85th minute and Roberto Soares would answer 2:35 later with the assist going to Justin Montgomery.
For the match, Pfeiffer held a 24-7 advantage in shots and a 7-1 lead in corner kicks. Jaime Siaj took 11 shots in the contest for the Falcons who put 14 shots on frame. Tomas Correa improved to 11-1 overall and 7-0 in conference as the sophomore made three saves.
Pfeiffer has now won eight straight overall and are outscoring opponents 42-2 in that span.
The Falcons wrap up the regular season with a road match against Belmont Abbey. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.
