Box Score MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Thanks to a five goal outburst in the second half, the Pfeiffer men's soccer team (19-2) advanced to the Sweet 16 with a NCAA Tournament win over Lenoir-Rhyne (12-5-3) on a chilly Saturday evening at Lefko Field. The win is Pfeiffer's 32nd straight win at home which ties the NCAA Division II record.
Jaime Siaj had two goals and two assists and Nathan Regis added a goal and two assists in the victory. With their six goal effort tonight, Pfeiffer has now scored at least five times in nine of their last 10 matches.
Pfeiffer drew first blood in the 2nd minute as Siaj took a cross from Roberto Soares for his 18th goal of the season. However, the Bears had an answer in the 17th minute as Marc Fernandez recorded an unassisted goal to even the game at one. However, Fernandez would be sent off with a red card late in the first half and the Bears would be unable to recover.
Juan Sanchez scored the game winner in the 48th minute off an assist from Alex Stoiljkovic. Just 1:43 later, Regis scored his 24th goal of the season as the flood gates opened. Later in the half, Pfeiffer scored three times in a 2:47 span to seal the victory.
The Falcons also extend their win streak to 13 in a row and have outscored opponents 68-5 in that span.
Pfeiffer will find out its opponent tomorrow afternoon as they take on the winner of Limestone and Wingate. Should Wingate win, they would host the Sweet 16 and Elite 8. However, if the Bulldogs falter, Pfeiffer would host both rounds.
