MISENHEIMER, N.C. - For the second year in a row, the Pfeiffer men's soccer team placed 10 players on the All-Conference team the league announced today. The Falcons placed a record seven players on the First Team All-Conference and Nathan Regis was named the Conference Player of the Year for the second straight season. Bob Reasso also earned consecutive Conference Coach of the Year honors, while Dani Siaj was announced as the league's Defensive Player of the Year.
Coming off a NCAA Tournament run that saw him named the Defensive MVP, senior Dani Siaj has been named the Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year. The senior anchored a backline that posted seven consecutive shutouts from October 1 to October 22 and held opponents scoreless for 681 consecutive minutes. Behind the leadership of Siaj, the Falcons only allowed four goals in league play as Pfeiffer outscored conference opponents 48-4. The Madrid, Spain native played a pivotal role in holding opponents to only 7.3 shots per game, and helping the defense to only allow 15 total goals in 18 matches this season.
Nathan Regis earns his second straight Conference Carolinas Player of the Year award as the senior capped off his career with another huge campaign. Regis leads the league in goals (20), points (47) and game-winning goals (8) and is second in shots (75) and fifth in assists (7). In a 7-1 win over Barton in the Conference Tournament Quarterfinal, Regis recorded a hat trick and an assist in the first 28 minutes of the match. Regis recorded at least one point in 15 of his 18 matches on the year and has six multi-goal efforts.
For the second straight season, Bob Reasso has been named Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year. Reasso led the Falcons to a second straight 10-0 regular season and has guided Pfeiffer to 23 consecutive regular season wins in league play. The Falcons took their dominance to another level in 2016, outscoring conference opponents 48-4. Offensively, the Falcons have scored 84 total goals, 33 more than any other team in the conference. Heading into the conference semifinal, Reasso sits just one win shy of tying the record for most career wins despite only coaching for four seasons and owns a record of 68-15-3.
The first team all-conference was comprised of seven Falcons. Regis, Siaj, Jaime Siaj, Martim Galvao, Jorge Buzzo, Tomas Correa and Santi Moar. Cristobal Allendes and Juan Sanchez were named to the Second Team All-Conference and Roberto Soares was picked to the Third Team.
