MISENHEIMER, NC- For the third consecutive season, the Pfeifer men's soccer team (18-2) was crowned Conference Carolinas Tournament Champions as the Falcons won in decisive fashion 5-1 over Limestone (15-3) on Saturday night. Nathan Regis was named the Tournament's Most Outstanding Player for the third time in a row. The senior scored six goals in the tournament including a hat trick in the Championship match for the Falcons. With the win Pfeiffer's head coach Bob Reasso picks up his 70th career win at Pfeiffer breaking the school record of 69.
The Falcons struck first 20 minutes into the contest when Regis rebounded a save and found the back of the net putting Pfeiffer up 1-0. The Trinidad and Tobago native struck again right before half taking a cross from Santi Moar and heading it just inside the right post.
Moar struck for the 14th time this season after Regis deflected a punt from the Saints keeper and Moar beat the keeper one-on-one pushing the Falcon lead to 3-1. Pfeiffer was able to tack on two more goals, Regis registered his second hat trick of the tournament off a penalty kick, and Mateo Garces Yepes struck for the eighth time this season off a Regis pass in the 72nd minute.
With the second goal of the night, the Falcons broke the school record for most goals scored in a season which was set in 1975. Pfeiffer has won 31 straight games played at N.E. Lefko Field, which ties the second longest streak in Division II history.
This is Pfeiffer's second victory over Limestone in the last two weeks, outscoring the Saints 12-3 in the two matches.
Cristobal Allendes, Martim Galvao, Paco Cortez and Moar were named All-Tournament performers for Pfeiffer.
