Women's Tennis Drops First Match of the Season

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Pfeiffer women's tennis team (4-1) dropped its first match of the season, a 6-3 decision at the hands of California (Pa.) on Sunday afternoon.

Cal (Pa.) took a 2-1 advantage in doubles play with Pfeiffer getting the lone victory in first doubles with Olivia Nelms and Valeria Mendoza gaining an 8-3 victory. Cal would take second and third doubles by scores of 8-6 and 8-3 respectively.

In singles play, Pfeiffer gained wins in first and second positions. Nelms took home a straight sets victory over Lena Dimmer by scores of 7-5 and 6-2. Mylene Petitpas overcame a first set 6-2 loss to rally for consecutive 6-4 victories to win in three sets. However, Pfeiffer dropped the rest of singles play as Cal gained the victory.

Pfeiffer returns to action on Saturday when they host Erskine in Conference Carolinas action at 10 a.m.
