MISENHEIMER, N.C. - For the second straight game, the Pfeiffer women's lacrosse team (1-5) suffered a one goal defeat in the closing moments of the second half in an 11-10 loss to Bloomsburg (2-0) on Monday afternoon. The Huskies' Brigid Kyne scored her third and final goal with just 1:07 left in the game to break a 10-10 tie and gave the Huskies a non-conference victory.
In Pfeiffer's previous game, Tiffin scored with 2:29 to play to steal a win on N.E. Lefko Field. In today's contest, Pfeiffer erased a 7-4 second half deficit by scoring five straight goals but the Huskies scored four of the final five goals of the game.
Gracie Herbert netted a hat trick in the loss, scoring three goals on six shots. The duo of Cheyenne Green and Angela Fratantuono each scored twice for the Falcons. Green and Josie Lent paced Pfeiffer with four ground balls.
Cassidy Wilson was stellar in net as the senior made 13 saves, including a couple clutch saves late in the second half. Wilson added three ground balls in the contest.
Pfeiffer held a 20-18 advantage in ground balls but were forced into 21 turnovers on the day. Bloomsburg out shot Pfeiffer 25-21 and converted on 2-of-5 free position shots.
At the 23:23 mark, Kate Shea gave the visitors a three goal lead before the Falcons mounted a huge rally. Green started the scoring at the 22:53 mark and was followed by Fratantuono and Jaffe before Green finished the rally at the 14:40 mark to give the Falcons a 9-7 lead. Bloomsburg's Taylor Turner and Lindsey Cole converted back-to-back goals to even the game before Ally Unkenholz scored on a free position shot to give Pfeiffer a 10-9 lead with 5:55 to go. Hannah Jaskuta evened the contest before Kyne broke the tie with 67 seconds remaining.
The Falcons look to break their three game losing skid on Friday night as they host Erskine at 7 p.m.
