Box Score 2 BRISTOL,TN- The Pfeiffer baseball team (19-26, 10-13 CC) clinched a Conference Carolinas Tournament berth, splitting a double header with King (15-29, 8-16 CC) on Saturday. Pfeiffer pounded out six runs on 11 hits in game one, taking a 6-4 victory. In the series finale King picked up a 7-2 victory ending a seven game losing skid.
Pfeiffer struck first in game one, Derek Perry opened up the game with a double down the right field line. Damon Smith was then hit by a pitch, and back-to-back walks gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead. Tanner Mathis singled through the left side which scored Damon Smith giving Pfeiffer a 1-0. The Tornado answered when Ryan Sattz hit a two run home run tying the contest 2-2.
Jordan Eckard put the Falcons back on top when he blasted a three-run home run to left field, scoring Scudder and Tanner Mathis. King scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut the lead to 5-4. In the top of the sixth the Falcons added an insurance run when Anthony Allende hit an RBI single to center field, scoring Smith who singled to start the inning.
Ethan Greene improved to 6-2 on the season, pitching his fifth complete game of the season and striking out nine batters in the process.
The Tornado struck first in game two pushing across one run in the bottom of the first inning. Pfeiffer answered back in the third inning, Perry hit a one out triple to center field and scored on an RBI ground out by Smith to even the score 1-1. King responded in the bottom of the frame scoring three runs and taking advantage of three Pfeiffer fielding errors to take a 4-1 lead.
The Tornado extended their lead to 7-1 with a three run four hit sixth inning. The Falcons tried to fight back scoring one run on three hits in the top of the seventh. Austin Fox hit RBI single to centerfield scoring Cody McKenzie from third.
Kirby Lambert recorded three hits in four at bats for the Falcons. Perry had three hits on the day, including two extra base hits, and McKenzie finished the day going four-for-eight from the plate.
Pfeiffer returns to action on Tuesday, April 19, traveling to Francis Marion. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
